Common questions

Do I need Xero to use Hoist?
No. Hoist runs your whole workshop, bookings through to paid invoices, without Xero. If you already use Xero for your books, connect it and invoices, payments and credit notes sync automatically. If you don’t, everything still works.
Is the Xero integration two-way?
Yes. Invoices created in Hoist sync to Xero automatically, and payments flow back so jobs reconcile without manual matching. It’s a native integration - there’s no third-party connector or export step.
Do I still need to create invoices in Xero?
No. You invoice from the job card in Hoist - parts and labour lines carry across, GST is calculated at 15%, and the finished invoice appears in Xero on its own.
Does the integration cost extra?
No - Xero sync is part of the standard Hoist plan, which includes every feature. See the pricing page for current plan details.
What if my accountant works in Xero?
That’s the point of the sync: your accountant keeps working in Xero and sees current, correct invoices without you doing anything. Hoist runs the workshop; Xero stays the source of truth for the books.
