What exactly is Hoist?

Hoist is an all-in-one, web-based software platform designed to help Kiwi mechanics run their entire workshop. It handles your jobs, vehicles, customers, invoicing, and payments in one simple, modern interface, so you can ditch the clunky spreadsheets and messy whiteboards.

Is this actually built for mechanics, or is it just generic software?

It’s 100% built for the workshop floor. Our co-founders are car enthusiasts, and the entire platform has been developed with direct input from Kiwi workshop owners. We're focused on solving the real-world problems you face every day, not what a corporate office thinks you need.

Is it hard to use? My staff aren't computer experts.

Not at all. Our number one goal is simplicity. We've designed Hoist to be clean and intuitive, so anyone can pick it up in minutes. If you can use a smartphone, you can use Hoist.

Can I use Hoist on my phone or tablet?

You bet. Hoist is designed to work beautifully on any device with a web browser—desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. You can check a job's status from under a car or send an invoice from the front desk.

Is Hoist only for car workshops?

While our primary focus is on cars and light commercial vehicles, Hoist is flexible enough to be used by motorcycle, marine, or any other type of repair and service workshop.

How much does Hoist cost?

Right now, Hoist is in an early access phase. This means you can join our pilot program and use the platform for free until our official launch. In return for your feedback, you'll also get a massive 50% lifetime discount if you choose to continue with a paid plan.

What happens after the early access period?

When we launch officially, we will offer simple, transparent monthly subscription plans based on the size of your business. There will be no long-term contracts, no hidden fees, and no nasty surprises. Our goal is to provide huge value at a fair price.

Is it really 100% Kiwi-owned?

Absolutely. We're a small, dedicated team based right here in New Zealand. We're proud to be building a world-class tool for local businesses.

I'm using another system. Is it hard to switch?

We know that switching software can be a hassle. We're focused on making the transition as smooth as possible. For our early partners, we'll work with you directly to help import your existing customer lists and vehicle data to get you up and running with no dramas.

What kind of support do you offer if I get stuck?

You'll have a direct line to us—the people actually building the software. During our early access phase, we offer dedicated support to help you get the most out of Hoist and to listen to your feedback.

Where is my business data stored? Is it safe?

Your data is securely stored on world-class cloud infrastructure. We take data security very seriously, employing modern security practices to ensure your business and customer information is kept safe and backed up.

What happens if the internet goes down at my workshop?

Because Hoist is a web-based platform, it does require an internet connection to work. However, since it works on any device, you can easily switch to using mobile data on your phone or a tablet to keep your workshop running until your main connection is restored.
