Requesting deletion

You can request deletion of your Hoist account in either of these ways:

• Ask your workshop administrator to remove you as a user. They can do this from Hoist's account settings at any time.
• Email us directly at hello@hoist.nz from the email address on your account, with “Delete my account” in the subject line. We'll verify the request comes from the account holder before actioning it.

If you use the Hoist Workshop mobile app, you can also reach this page from Settings → Delete account in the app.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we delete:

• Your user account and login credentials
• Your personal profile data, such as your name, email address and phone number
• Your device and push notification tokens

What your workshop may keep

Hoist is workshop management software, and the workshop you work for is the owner of its business records, not you individually. Some records that reference your account, such as invoices, job cards and time entries, belong to the workshop and may be kept after your user account is deleted. New Zealand's tax record-keeping requirements mean financial and billing records are generally retained for 7 years, as described in our privacy policy. These records are the workshop's business data, not your personal data, and remain associated with the job rather than with a live user account.

How long it takes

We action deletion requests within 30 days. Active systems are updated first; backup copies that include your data are cleared on our standard backup cycle, also within 30 days of the request being actioned.
