Garage Hive is a well-regarded UK workshop management platform that, going by a few interesting entries in the public record, may be weighing a New Zealand launch. Nothing is announced and nothing is certain, so treat this as an early, speculative comparison built from its published UK material and what we know about running workshops here. We’ll keep it updated as real NZ details appear, or retire it if they never do.

Where Garage Hive is strong
It would be silly to pretend otherwise: Garage Hive is a mature product with a deep feature set. Because it sits on Microsoft Business Central, its accounting and reporting go further than most workshop tools, and larger multi-site operations that already run on the Microsoft stack may find that a natural fit. Its UK community and templates are a real asset in its home market.
Where the fit gets harder in New Zealand
Three practical things. First, price: at its UK rate it would arrive at roughly twice to four times the published price of local options, before any NZ pricing is confirmed. Second, the accounting stack: New Zealand runs on Xero, and software built around a different ledger needs a very clear answer about how the two live together. Third, localisation: WoF workflows, rego lookup from official NZ vehicle records, and NZ-format GST invoicing aren’t UK features you can toggle on; they’re things a vendor builds when it commits to a market. Ask to see them working, not on a roadmap.
If you’re comparing the two
Get both on a screen with your own jobs. Run a WoF reminder cycle, look up a vehicle by rego, raise an invoice with GST, push it to your accounting. Then compare the monthly price in writing.
