Nothing's more frustrating than starting your workday and not being able to log into your workshop software. Customers are waiting, jobs need updating, and you're stuck staring at an error message.
Before you call support (and wait on hold), try these fixes. Most login problems have simple solutions you can sort yourself.
Quick Navigation
1. Wrong Password or Forgotten Password
The most common login problem. Before anything else, make sure you're entering the right credentials.
Quick Checks
- • Caps Lock: Is your Caps Lock on? Passwords are case-sensitive
- • Num Lock: If your password has numbers, make sure Num Lock is on
- • Spaces: Check for accidental spaces at the start or end of your password
- • Keyboard layout: If you've recently changed language settings, your keyboard might be typing different characters
Password Reset
If you genuinely can't remember your password:
- 1. Click "Forgot Password" or "Reset Password" on the login page
- 2. Enter your email address (the one you used to sign up)
- 3. Check your inbox for the reset email
- 4. Check your spam/junk folder if it doesn't arrive within 5 minutes
- 5. Click the reset link and create a new password
Reset Email Not Arriving?
- • Check spam/junk folders
- • Make sure you're entering the correct email address
- • Some work email systems block automated emails - try a personal email if you have one on the account
- • Wait 10-15 minutes before requesting another reset (multiple requests can cause delays)
Password Tips
Once you've reset your password, consider using a password manager (like Bitwarden, 1Password, or even your browser's built-in password saving). This prevents future lockouts and lets you use strong, unique passwords without remembering them.
2. Account Locked Out
Most workshop software locks accounts after several failed login attempts. This is a security feature to prevent unauthorised access.
How to Tell If You're Locked Out
- • You see a message like "Account locked" or "Too many failed attempts"
- • The login button stops working even with correct credentials
- • You're told to wait or contact support
What to Do
Wait it out: Most lockouts automatically clear after 15-30 minutes. Go get a coffee, come back, and try again with the correct password.
Contact support: If you need access urgently, contact your software provider's support team. They can manually unlock your account.
Don't keep trying: Each failed attempt may extend the lockout period. If you're locked out, stop trying and wait.
Security Reminder
If you didn't cause the lockout (you haven't been trying to log in), someone else might be attempting to access your account.
Contact support immediately, reset your password once unlocked, and consider enabling two-factor authentication if available.
3. Browser Problems
Your web browser can cause login issues even when nothing else is wrong. These are some of the most frustrating problems because the error messages don't help.
Clear Your Browser Cache
Old cached data can interfere with login pages. Here's how to clear it:
Chrome:
- 1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
- 2. Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies"
- 3. Click "Clear data"
- 4. Close Chrome completely and reopen
Edge:
- 1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete
- 2. Select "Cached data and files" and "Cookies"
- 3. Click "Clear now"
Safari:
- 1. Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy
- 2. Click "Manage Website Data"
- 3. Remove data for your workshop software's website
Try a Different Browser
If clearing cache doesn't work, try logging in with a different browser. If Chrome isn't working, try Edge, Firefox, or Safari. If it works in a different browser, the problem is your original browser's settings or extensions.
Disable Browser Extensions
Ad blockers, privacy extensions, and other browser add-ons can interfere with login forms. Try:
- • Opening an "incognito" or "private" window (extensions are usually disabled)
- • Temporarily disabling extensions one by one to find the culprit
- • Adding your workshop software to the extension's whitelist
Check Browser Updates
Outdated browsers can have compatibility issues with modern websites. Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version.
4. Internet Connection Issues
For cloud-based workshop software, you need a working internet connection. Even if other websites load, specific services might have issues.
Quick Connection Tests
- • Can you load other websites (like Google)?
- • Try turning your modem/router off and on again (the classic fix)
- • Try switching from WiFi to mobile data (or vice versa) to test if it's your connection
- • Check if others in your workshop can access the software
DNS Issues
Sometimes your internet works but specific websites won't load due to DNS problems. Try:
- 1. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac)
- 2. Type:
ipconfig /flushdns(Windows) orsudo dscacheutil -flushcache(Mac) - 3. Press Enter and try logging in again
Is the Service Down?
Sometimes the problem isn't you - it's the software provider. Check:
- • The provider's status page (if they have one)
- • Their social media for outage announcements
- • Contact support to ask if there's a known issue
5. Wrong Login URL
This sounds obvious, but it happens more than you'd think - especially if your workshop software has been updated or migrated.
Common URL Problems
- • Using an old bookmark that points to a deprecated URL
- • Typing the URL wrong (workshop vs workshops, .com vs .nz)
- • Using HTTP instead of HTTPS
- • Going to a demo or staging site instead of the live version
Find the Correct URL
- 1. Check your welcome/signup email from when you first registered
- 2. Check the provider's main website for a "Login" button
- 3. Contact support and ask them to confirm the correct login URL
Bookmark the Right Page
Once you've confirmed the correct login URL, bookmark it. Better yet, save it as your browser's homepage or create a desktop shortcut so you always go to the right place.
6. Subscription or Account Problems
Sometimes login problems aren't technical - they're account-related.
Subscription Expired
If your payment method failed or your subscription wasn't renewed, your account might be suspended. Signs include:
- • Login works but you're redirected to a payment page
- • You see a message about your account being suspended
- • You can log in but features are disabled
Fix: Update your payment method or renew your subscription. Check your email for payment failure notices you might have missed.
Account Deleted or Deactivated
If someone at your workshop cancelled the account, or if the account was inactive for a long time, it might have been deactivated.
Fix: Contact the software provider. They may be able to reactivate your account and restore your data (depending on their retention policies).
Wrong Account Type
Some workshop software has different login portals for different user types:
- • Admin vs staff login pages
- • Business vs individual accounts
- • Different product versions (basic vs pro)
Fix: Make sure you're on the correct login page for your account type. Ask your admin or the person who set up the account.
Still Can't Login?
If none of the above fixes work, it's time to contact support. When you do, have this information ready:
- • The email address you're trying to log in with
- • The exact error message you're seeing (screenshot if possible)
- • What browser and device you're using
- • What you've already tried
This information helps support diagnose the problem faster instead of asking you to try things you've already done.
| Problem | First Thing to Try |
|---|---|
| "Invalid password" | Check Caps Lock, try password reset |
| "Account locked" | Wait 15-30 minutes, then try again |
| Page won't load | Check internet, try different browser |
| Login button doesn't work | Clear browser cache, disable extensions |
| "User not found" | Check email address, check URL is correct |
| "Subscription expired" | Update payment method |
Preventing Future Login Problems
Once you're back in, take a few minutes to prevent future issues:
- • Use a password manager - Never forget your password again
- • Enable two-factor authentication - More secure and often has backup recovery options
- • Bookmark the correct login URL - Avoid typos and old links
- • Keep your browser updated - Prevents compatibility issues
- • Save support contact details - Know who to call when you're stuck
Need Help?
If you're having login problems with your workshop software, check your provider's support page or contact them directly. Most issues can be resolved quickly with the right information.
